A personal development plan is a map of your personal growth journey. It's actually a goal setting practice with specific focus on the personal development field. Among other things, it's going to identify the skills you need to learn, the aspects of yourself that needs to be improved, the skills that you're missing and areas that attention should be paid for improvement.
Although it is essentially a goal setting plan, but due to the nature of the personal development, would be a slightly different approach is more appropriate and effective, as opposed to after a usual goal setting practice. that is why a personal development plan is needed.
For many people who are serious about success, goal setting is a must.Many, however, no set goals for their personal development. people have normal financial goals, health goals, career/professional goals, spiritual goals and objectives of the relationship. They do not have targets for their personal development.
The danger in this is because if you get more and more entangled in the process of achieving goals, you will learn and unconsciously ignore further improvement.Another thing is, when people start seeing success, many tend to become complacent and stop their development. it is this complacency that usually caused many successful individuals as a result, loses focus and fail.
With a personal development planning helps ensure that we continue to focus our and ourselves to avoid complacency, continually improve.The starting point of a personal development plan of 3 steps;
1. Identify your current situation-what are your strengths, weaknesses, skills, abilities, etc.
2. Identify where you want or need to be-what should be worked on for you to get to the next level. What are your weaknesses need to be addressed.What area is priority for improvement?
3. come up with a plan to fill that gap-the last step is to identify a plan on how the gap between where we currently find ourselves and where we want to be. This includes preparing; resources that must be obtained, who/where to learn from, planning of the issues, and how to set a timeline.
The premise is pretty simple, but it is important that you spend some time on it and with a good plan, so you'll be led by the right way immediately and that no time and effort is wasted.
After a personal development plan helps you to ensure that your knowledge, skills and competences are constantly being updated. because at the end of the day, it's your knowledge that will ultimately affect the quality of your life and the success you achieve.
